Abstract:
Women-empowerment is still a problematic area in most of the developing countries including Rwanda, where women’s contribution is limited and not well acknowledged in most of the developing countries (Hanmer & Klugman, 2016). According to UN Women report (2024), the gender gap in labor force participation has hovered at 30 per cent since 1990, with men’s participation at around 80 per cent and women’s at 50 per cent. Labour force participation rates for women aged 25- 54 in 2022 was 61.4 per cent compared to 90.6 per cent for men.
This study assesses the Contribution of BRAC services towards women economic empowerment, case study; selected women in Remera Sector, Kigali city”. The specific objectives of the study were; To assess the effectiveness of financial services provided by BRAC and to examine the relationship between BRAC services and women economic empowerment.
Data were collected through questionnaire and observation methods within quantitative approach, 75 respondents were selected randomly with the help of Slovin Formula, and the data were analyzed quantitatively. The findings indicate that BRAC have been effectively playing its role to the community specifically to women. Women are aware of the good service provided BRAC through savings and different training and guidance provided by BRAC. They are certain role played by BRAC, the study revealed that it encourages saving cultural within people, finance women’s projects and also facilitate them in accessing the loans. Regarding the relationship between BRAC and women empowerment some indicators stated include income generation,

increase in saving rates, as well as being able to afford healthcare service, school fees and food.
