Abstract:
The study aims to analyze the impact of school feeding programme to the quality education in Ecole Primaire Kariyeri and Groupe Scolaire Ntora, Gasabo District. The study’s objectives were: to examine the effects of school feeding programme on the quality of education of primary school students in Gisozi sector, to evaluate the challenges faced in the implementation of the school feeding programme in Gisozi sector, to provides the efficient measures to overcome the challenges faced in the implementation of school feeding programme in Gisozi sector, and to identify the best practices in the implementation of school feeding programme that can be replicated in other regions of Rwanda to enhance the quality of education. The study employed the mixed approach research design and stratified sampling and purposive sampling technique were used in sampling, questionnaire, interview and documentary were used in data collection while descriptive statistics were used in data analysis. The study finds that school feeding programme improve the physical health, reduced school dropout and foster the social cohesion among the students. The study also find, insufficient funding, inadequate monitory and evaluation mechanism as well as the food price permanent fluctuation pose a challenge to the implementation of school feeding programme. The study recommends that community should be engaged more and the health and hygiene should be promoted and integrated in the programme.
