Abstract:
The research purpose of this study was to investigate the ‘‘the role of UNMISS contributions
to peace – building and local development, case study of Bahr El Ghazal, period: 2020 –
2024’’; This research was driven by the statement stated that the The mandate has, therefore,
been altered to allow UNMISS to address the emerging situations in the South Sudan conflict,
in the process adopting a more radical approach. Unfortunately, this approach has not
resulted in a successful UNMISS protection plan, which has led to ongoing criticism of
UNMISS' efficacy. Even if no one component of the peacekeeping system is thought to be
solely to blame for the mission's failure, it is crucial to learn from previous UNMISS errors
and create strategies to address the mission's shortcomings. The study's specific goals are to
ascertain whether UNMISS is effective in promoting peace building in Bahar El Ghazal, to
appraise the mission's mandated goals to support peacebuilding, to appraise the peace
building activities carried out by the mission, and to investigate the contextual factors that
contribute to successful peace building in Bahar El Ghazal.
