Abstract:
This study investigates the role of Faith based organizations services in poverty reduction within the
Kicukiro District of Rwanda, focusing specifically on Caritas, a prominent FBO operating in the
region. The research spans from 2018 to 2024 and aims to assess the effectiveness of Caritas’s
programs and initiatives in alleviating poverty among vulnerable populations. Utilizing a mixed-
methods approach, the study combines quantitative data analysis with qualitative interviews from
beneficiaries and stakeholders involved in Caritas’s projects.
Key areas of focus include economic empowerment through vocational training, access to healthcare
services, educational support, and community development initiatives. The findings indicate that
Caritas has significantly contributed to poverty reduction by enhancing livelihoods, improving health
outcomes, and fostering social cohesion within communities. However, challenges such as resource
limitations and dependency on external funding are also highlighted.
The study concludes with recommendations for strengthening the operational capacity of Faith Based
Organisations Services
