Rwanda's history is deeply scarred by ethnic conflict, culminating in the horrific genocide of
1994. In the aftermath, Rwanda has embarked on a remarkable journey towards peace-building
and stability. In Bugesera, a district deeply affected by the 1994 genocide, conflict management
strategies have been meticulously tailored to address local dynamics and foster sustainable
peace. Research questions are fundamental inquiries that guide a study, helping to focus on
specific aspects of a topic and uncover insights through systematic investigation. The following
research questions serve as pivotal points of exploration: 1. To what extent has conflict
management helped in promoting p and stability in Bugesera sector? and 2. What are perceived
effectiveness of conflict management strategies in Bugesera sector in addressing local grievances
and promoting reconciliation? to get a nurshed indings, there is Objectives of the Study, i)To
analyze the role of conflict management in promoting peace and stability in Rwanda. ii)To
evaluate the effectiveness of conflict management strategies in fostering peace and stability in
Rwandan society. To investigate the implementation and outcomes of reconciliation programs
and justice mechanisms, such as the Gacaca courts, in addressing past atrocities and fostering
national unity and to give recommendations to addressing the detected loopholes were added.
This study focuses on conflict management strategies, their effectiveness, and their impact on
peace and stability in Bugesera. It is geographically confined to Bugesera District in Rwanda,
chosen for its relevance to post-genocide reconciliation efforts and its diverse sociology-
economic and cultural dynamics. With a time scope of from 2019 to 2024. This dissertation is
structured into four chapters. Chapter one serves as the introduction, background, problem
statement, objectives, research questions, scope, significance of the study. Chapter two: literature
review on conflict management, peace building, Chapter three presents the research
methodology used and last one if to present the findings and analysis of the research, offering
insights into how conflict management promotes peace. As a conclusion many respondents has
revealed that even some of them have their own barriers, this policy is useful tool to maintain
peace among Rwandan communities and agreed together this can handle the hate in people and
by time can so many and build desired Rwanda together. |
