dc.description.abstract This study, titled "Women Empowerment and Rural Households Wellbeing in Muhanga District in Rwanda: A Case Study of Muhanga Sector (2021-2024)," examines the factors influencing women’s empowerment, the strategies implemented to promote it, and its contribution to socio- economic development in the Muhanga sector. The study employed descriptive statistics with a sample size of 99, selected through convenient and purposive sampling techniques, and data was collected using questionnaires, interviews, and document reviews. Thematic and descriptive statistical analysis were used to analyze the findings. The study revealed that initiatives promoting women’s empowerment in Muhanga include support for women’s entrepreneurship, access to microfinance services, educational and health services, and community involvement in gender equality. It also identified cultural beliefs, legal frameworks, educational attainment, and access to resources as key factors influencing women’s empowerment. Women’s empowerment significantly contributes to household income, local economic growth, children’s education, and social cohesion. However, challenges such as cultural norms, financial constraints, and gender- based violence hinder progress. Recommendations include increasing access to education, financial support for women entrepreneurs, stronger legal protections, and expanded healthcare services. en_US
