dc.description.abstract The study is about the role of women in peace building and reconciliation in south Sudan. A case of Juba City within the period of 2013-2024. Specifically this study established the approaches employed by women in post conflict peace building and reconciliation in Juba. Identified the role of women in post conflict peace building and reconciliation in Juba and identified the challenges encountered by women in peace building and reconciliation in Juba. Regarding the approaches employed by women in post conflict peace building and reconciliation in Juba, results shows that the majority of respondents with 67% strongly agreed that women banked on international instruments to request for their slot in peace building in Juba and 33% agreed with them. Also the role of women in post conflict peace building and reconciliation in Juba was assessed and results shows that 48% confirmed that women’s participation in peace-building processes bridge conflict divides. It was also observed that 22% confirmed that women’s participation in peace-building processes avail the useful information for Peace Building. Also the majority of respondents with 64% strongly agreed that women play a considerable role in mediation between the antagonistic part in South Sudan and 36% agreed with this statement. It was also highlighted that 68% strongly agree that women in Juba are involved in community’s peace education and encouraging truth telling for reconciliation. Also researcher analysed the challenges encountered by women in peace building and reconciliation in Juba, and results shows that 40% of the total respondents strongly agreed that patriarchal norms is a challenges encountered by women in peace building and reconciliation in Juba, 25% agreed. it was also highlighted that 18% of the total respondents agreed that Lack of Political will is a challenges encountered by women in peace building and reconciliation in Juba. Therefore, this allow researcher to conclude that despite of the role played by women in post conflict peace building and reconciliation, they encounter some few challenge like patriarchal norms and lack of political will at low level. en_US
