dc.description.abstract This study investigates the impact of circular economy initiatives on sustainable food security in Rwanda, with a focus on Gensi Farms in Gasabo District from 2018 to 2024. The research objectives are: to analyze the extent to which resource efficiency promotion affects sustainable food security in Gensi Farms in Gasabo district, to assess the effect of waste management on sustainable food security in Gensi Farms in Gasabo district and to examine the effect of closed-loop systems on sustainable food security in Gensi Farms in Gasabo district as well as to find out the challenges facing Gensi Farms during implementation of circular economy initiatives in Rwanda and propose strategies to overcome them. Utilizing a descriptive approach, the study draws on a sample of 238 respondents from a population of 585, employing questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis. Key findings reveal that resource efficiency, waste management, and closed-loop systems significantly enhance soil fertility, reduce post-harvest losses, and contribute to environmental conservation, thereby supporting sustainable food security. However, challenges such as inconsistent policy frameworks, financial constraints, limited technological infrastructure, and low awareness levels were identified as barriers to effective implementation. The study recommends enhancing multi-stakeholder collaboration, investing in advanced technologies, and engaging local communities for Gensi Farms, while urging the Ministry of Agriculture, Rwanda Green Funds, and their partners to strengthen regulatory frameworks, provide financial incentives, and promote the adoption of advanced technologies. en_US
