dc.description.abstract This study addresses the peace education in post-genocide Rwanda as a means to eradicate violence. The study specifically assesses the knowledge students have about peace education in post-genocide Rwanda, determines the level of violence eradication at Glory Academy in post-genocide Rwanda and establishes the relationship between peace education and violence eradication in Rwanda. The sample size used was 72 students selected by using simple random sampling technique. Descriptive and correlative research designs were used. Questionnaires and interview guide techniques were used in data collection. SPSS were used in data analyzing. The findings on first specific objective indicated that the majority of the respondents strongly agreed that peace education developed respondents’ sense of social responsibility and solidarity (mean=4.590, Std=0.449). The respondents also strongly agreed that peace education gave respondents the knowledge on the positive values that can support social cohesion in their community (mean=3.790, Std=0.670). In addition, respondents strongly agreed that through peace education they know well how to avoid disparities and marginalization in their community with the main purpose of eradicating any harmful and violence action (mean=3.670, Std=0.460). Furthermore, respondents strongly agreed that through peace education they knew why promoting inclusivity and reducing injustice and inequality are essential in the society (mean=3.530, Std=0.449). The findings on second objective indicated that students easily forgive one another when one makes a mistake in Glory Academy Upper secondary school, the item recorded a Mean of 4.989; Standard Deviation is 0.580. The second item within bullying amongst students is on the decrease in Glory Academy Upper secondary school which recorded Mean of 3.872 and Standard Deviation of 0.876. The third item was students in my class have spirit of perform tasks as a team in Academy Upper secondary school and this recorded Mean of 3.768 and Standard Deviation is 1.108. The fourth measurement item was none in my class currently use verbally abuse, the item recorded a Mean of 3.621; Standard Deviation is 0.153. The firth item within incidences of fighting among students has considerably reduced in Academy Upper secondary school which recorded Mean of 3.528 and Standard Deviation of 0.721. For third objective indicated that that independent variable has positive high correlation to dependent variable equal to 0.819** and therefore violence eradication depends 81.9% on peace education. Therefore the researcher concludes that variables are positively correlated. This means that there is a significant relationship between peace education and violence eradication in Rwanda. en_US
