Abstract:
The main purpose of the study was to assess the contribution of churches on social economic
development in Rwanda. Specifically this study analyzed the extent to which ADEPR
contribute to the social economic development in Muhima Sector and analyze challenges
ADEPR faces while contributing to the social economic development of Muhima sector. And
end by suggesting strategies ADEPR can use to overcome challenges identified In virtue to the
main purpose of this study, researcher designed an appropriate research methodology and used
the interview, documentary and questionnaire techniques to collect and the data were analysed
using analytical, statistical, and comparative methods.
Regarding to the extent to which ADEPR contribute to the social economic development in
Muhima Sector after observing all findings what researchers can note here is that ADEPR
contribute a lot to the social economic development in Muhima Sector, where almost all
respondents representing by88.4% of the total respondents strongly agreed that ADEPR Muhima
participate in poverty reduction program like community based health insurance and 11.6%
agreed with the statements. It was also observed that, 62.1% strongly agreed that ADEPR
Muhima helps some children to access basic education and 37.9% agreed with this. On the other
side results shows that 71.6% strongly agreed that ADEPR Muhima parish helps some children
in the community to attend vocational schools and 28.4% agreed with this. Regarding the
challenges faced by ADEPR while contributing to the social economic development of Muhima
sector, the results shows that 65.3 % of the total respondents strongly agreed that insufficiency
fund to support all community members who need our support and 45.3% agreed with this. Also
the majority of respondents with 55.8% strongly disagreed that misuse of support by
beneficiaries‘ dangerous challenges that ADEPR face while promoting Muhima sector‘s
community, while 44.2% strongly agreed with this statement. On the other side 54.7% strongly
agreed that lack of trained human resource is challenge in church‘s process of promoting social
economic condition of Muhima community 20% agreed and 25.3% were neutral. Therefore,
these allow researchers to conclude that despite of some challenge that ADEPR faces while
contributing to the social economic development of Muhima sector its contribute to the social
economic development of its Christian and community.
